Conservation and diversification of Msx protein in metazoan evolution.
Msx (/msh) family genes encode homeodomain (HD) proteins that control ontogeny in many animal species. We compared the structures of Msx genes from a wide range of Metazoa (Porifera, Cnidaria, Nematoda, Arthropoda, Tardigrada, Platyhelminthes, Mollusca, Brachiopoda, Annelida, Echiura, Echinodermata, Hemichordata, and Chordata) to gain an understanding of the role of these genes in phylogeny. Ex...

Conservation of protein interaction network in evolution.
A functional analysis of protein fold interaction suggested that structural fold families have gradually acquired more diverse interacting partners while maintaining central biochemical interactions and functions. This means that the protein interaction network (map) maintains its robust architecture due to the functional constraints associated with the interactions.
متن کاملCnidarian milestones in metazoan evolution.
Cnidarians display most of the characters considered as milestones of metazoan evolution. Whereas a tissue-level organization was probably already present in the multicellular common ancestor of all animals, the Urmetazoa, the emergence of important animal features such as bilateral symmetry, triploblasty, a polarized nervous system, sense organs (eyes, statocysts), and a (chitinous or calcium-...
